Meaning and purpose of one’s life is explored, discovered, and expressed through engagement with a world larger than oneself.
Even the youngest students are ready to build the skills and understanding necessary for negotiating challenge. As early as Kindergarten, our students are learning to construct the healthy relationships that support their development as social beings and by grade three St. George’s students are learning to resolve conflicts within social groups and empathize with peers. Students continue to build on these processes in successive grades throughout the Elementary School into grade six. By the completion of their Grade Six year, St. George’s students are becoming adept at using what they’ve learned in real life circumstances.
Preparing to sleep away from home can be daunting for many children; at St. George’s it is part of how students gain the confidence to become capable and independent young people. In each grade, our students participate in activities before, during, and after their overnight trips and retreats that are focused on one or more aspect of the CORE5 resilience program as well as other important lessons for everyday leadership.
