At Farringtons, we are extremely proud of all our pupils’ achievements and academic results.
It was great to see a good number of our Year 13 leavers coming into school to collect their A Level and BTEC results and to see them celebrating their successes. This was the first set of public exams that this year group has sat and we were so pleased that all the hard work they put in, supported expertly by their teachers, has resulted in some excellent outcomes. This is particularly true given that grade boundaries, as reported in the media, were the highest they have been nationally since 2019. As a consequence, our students are now looking forward to heading off to a wide range of Russell Group Universities across the country including King’s College London, Birmingham, York, Warwick, Liverpool and Queen Mary to study a variety of different subjects (Law, Economics, Biomedical Science, English, French, Physics, Chemistry, Psychology and Graphic Design), whilst others are excited about embarking on apprenticeship programmes with companies such as Deutsche Bank. We are extremely proud of them and wish them all the very best for the next stage of their education, secure in the knowledge that they are well prepared for life after school in every sense.
We were delighted to welcome Year 11 back into school this morning to receive their GCSE results and there was certainly plenty to celebrate. Contrary to the national picture, the grades achieved by our students compared to last year saw an improvement by every measure. The pass rate was especially pleasing, with 92% of grades at 9-4, 10% better than in 2019 (the year against which comparisons are being made), and significantly higher than the national average of 68.2%. For an essentially non-selective school, these results are outstanding and very much reflect the continuing academic momentum and aspiration at Farringtons. They are also, of course, testament to the hard work of the pupils and the commitment of their hugely dedicated teachers. We are enormously proud of their successes and wish them all the very best for their future studies, whether that be with us in the Sixth Form or elsewhere. Particular congratulations go to Sofia who secured grade 9s across the board, as well as five other pupils (Stefan, Aris, Leo, Luca and Tim), all of whom achieved nine or more grades 9-7.
