Chatham Christian School (CCS) is an elementary school and a high school serving students from JK-12 school with a mission to provide Christ-centred learning in all areas of schooling for Christ-like service in all areas of life.

Every day, students are challenged to explore the wonders of the world God created and to examine what it means to follow God in the culture in which we live.

It is our hope that the learning and experiences students gain at CCS will equip them for lives of service in God’s world.

CURRICULUM

Chatham Christian School (CCS) uses the Ontario ministry of education’s guidelines for curriculum scope and sequence but the specific content may differ. This means that CCS follows the overarching guidelines but not necessarily for each specific lesson. We work in conjunction with Edvance Christian Schools, Christian Schools International as well as curriculum from publishing companies to provide quality curriculum in each subject area. We strive to meet, or exceed, the ministry standard; however, in areas that relate to societal norms and practices, CCS teaches from a distinctly Biblical perspective.

CCS is registered with the Ontario Ministry of Education and Training, and our high school is inspected on a bi-annual basis by the Ministry. Our students follow the curriculum mandated by the Ontario Ministry of Education, which is uniquely filtered through a Christian worldview. Students graduating from the high school receive the province’s Ontario Secondary School Diploma. In addition, all high school students take two Bible courses as well as selections from Our World and Our Society course groups, leading to the CCHS diploma.

International Program

Chatham Christian School welcomes students from around the world. By introducing International students into our school we can provide a wonderful opportunity for cross-cultural understanding to develop among our students. International students bring their own experiences, insights, cultural expressions and perspectives that will enrich the school’s culture.

Chatham Christian School is a private school that offers elementary education at the Junior Kindergarten through Grade 8 levels, and secondary education from Grade 9 to 12. Graduates of CCS receive the Ontario Secondary School Diploma through the Ministry of Education. To receive this diploma a student must complete at least 30 credits, pass the standardized provincial literacy test and complete the required number of volunteer hours. Students planning to attend university will require at least six university/college level preparation courses in their senior level of studies.

CCS offers small classes taught by a caring, knowledgeable faculty who emphasize character and Christian morality. We also offer an extensive co-curriculum program with opportunities that include band, choir, art, athletics and various clubs. International students are provided with the same high quality instruction and support services available to our resident students during the school year.

In addition to this, international students will receive one on one ESL (English as a Second Language) tutoring to not only help them improve their English, but to provide extra assistance with their homework and class assignments. This individual tutoring has helped our International students be successful in their studies in order to gain acceptance in university.

The CCS International Education Program provides homestay placements for international students who are not living with a parent.

The school year runs from the beginning of September until the end of June, with the secondary school year divided into two semesters – September to January, and February to June.
