At Box Hill School, we treat every pupil as an individual, in every aspect of life. A combination of close attention, personalised learning, support, regular assessment and monitoring underpins the school’s academic tradition.
The academic curriculum at Box Hill School is carefully planned to ensure that a breadth and balance of subjects are studied throughout the lower and middle school. Courses are constructed to suit the aspirations, abilities and interests of all our students.
This focus on choice and flexibility is continued in our Sixth Form provision. The subject matter is appropriate for the ages and aptitudes of our students and allows for teaching differentiation to meet the needs of all students, including for those with specific learning difficulties and equally for those who are gifted and talented.
The curriculum is structured to allow all subjects a variety of learning slots dispersed across a two-week cycle. The school has an International Study Centre (ISC) which runs separate programmes of study for EAL students (English as an additional language), to deliver EAL and prepare students for transfer into mainstream programmes where appropriate.
SIXTH FORM CURRICULUM
At Box Hill School we offer our sixth form students the choice of two academic programmes. They can study for A Levels or for the International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB).
We are proud to offer both programmes to give our students the choice and opportunity to follow either a specialised programme of study or a broader, less specific course for those who may be undecided about their future choices for university or employment. Both are academically rigorous and highly regarded by universities in the UK and worldwide.
FLEXI-BOARDING
At Box Hill School we understand that every family has different needs which is why we offer a range of flexible boarding options including full boarding, weekly boarding and flexi-boarding. We are a warm, caring and inclusive community that provides a ‘home form home’ experience for our pupils who choose to board here.
Boarding to Suit Your Family Life
Flexi-boarding proves to be popular with parents with a busy working life, parents who may work away or if pupils take part in additional extra-curricular activities in the evening. It’s also a good opportunity if you want to experience what boarding is like and whether it suits your family.
Our House Parent staff are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week so you can feel confident that your child is supported and in safe hands.
With our flexi-boarding, you can choose which nights of the week you would like to board (minimum of 2 nights each week) and pre-book these in advance at the start of each term.
