In language classes, students learn to use language in God-glorifying ways. Junior and Senior Choirs sing praises to their Lord. In all subjects, students of varying abilities are encouraged to develop their talents for use in God's service. Chapels, in which the student body meets together to worship and praise God, are held regularly. All this is in addition to a complete elementary and high school curriculum of excellent quality. Students at the Chatham Christian Schools receive individual attention, encouragement, and loving discipline from Christian teachers. Standardized test scores show that the students of Chatham Christian Schools score well above the national average in all areas. Graduates of Chatham Christian High School receive the Ontario Secondary School Diploma as well as the Chatham Christian High School Diploma. International Education Program Chatham Christian Schools seek to provide Christ-centred learning in all areas of schooling for Christ-like service in all areas of life. Our world is becoming increasingly smaller through globalization, and as Christians, it is our responsibility to become effective in cross-cultural interactions. As we become skilled in our interactions, our witness can become more effective in this world. Jesus’ prayer for all believers was "that they may be one as we are one: I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me." (John 17:22b-23). By introducing International students into our schools we can provide a wonderful opportunity for cross-cultural understanding to develop so that we can become effective co-workers in bringing God’s redemptive story to those who have not heard it. International students bring with them their own experiences, insights, cultural expressions and perspectives that will enrich the school’s culture. The gospel gives a global perspective that envisions a church made up of all nations, and International students can help us create a mosaic that celebrates diversity. Our students can learn much from students of other nations. Chatham Christian Schools are private schools that offer elementary education at the Junior Kindergarten through Grade 8 levels, and secondary education from Grade 9 to Grade 12. The school year runs from the beginning of September until the end of June. The secondary school year is divided into two semesters; semester 1 from September to January, and semester 2 from February to June. International students are provided with the same high quality instruction and support services available to our resident students during the school year. Secondary students are provided with the opportunity to achieve "credits" that may qualify them to attend colleges and universities in Ontario and abroad. To receive an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), a student must complete at least 30 credits. Students planning to attend university will require at least six university/college preparation courses in their senior level of studies. The Chatham Christian School International Education Program will consider International students if they are living with a parent, or have an approved local home environment that is Christian and understands and is supportive of the school’s program. Comprehensive health insurance coverage mandatory in Ontario and every International student must have documented evidence of this coverage while studying in the province. This coverage is available through the school for a monthly fee. Students must also make sure their immunization records are up-to-date and must provide the school with a copy of of these records. The school determines the number of ESL (English as a Second Language) hours of instruction the student may need and the costs associated with that. Our general procedure will be to place International students at the age-appropriate grade levels so that the peer group will be most beneficial to the students’ social/emotional interaction and development. There may be exceptions made due to class sizes and student ability. Chatham Christian Schools will limit the number of International students to four per class. All International students must sign the Student Participation Agreement. Students will be admitted on a yearly or half-yearly basis. Tuition and associated fees will be pro-rated accordingly. The registration fee will not be pro-rated. Program Costs - Registration Fee (non-refundable) - Tuition - Health Insurance Coverage - ESL (English as a Second Language) - Transportation (busing to and from school where required, if available) - Highschool - additional fees charged for textbook rental, athletic fees, student council fees, etc. - Homestay Fee Admissions Process Submit the completed admissions forms along with the non-refundable registration fee.
